The Oforikrom Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Abraham Antwi, embarked on a heartwarming working visit today, October 3, to several basic schools within the municipality as part of the annual “My First Day at School” event. This nationwide initiative aims to extend a warm welcome to young pupils entering the mainstream school system and encourage their commitment to education.
During the visit, Hon. Antwi, along with other senior officers, presented school supplies to the eager schoolchildren. Approximately 600 school bags, generously provided by the Alex Nuamah Enterprise, a local business specializing in building paints, were distributed among the pupils in the municipality.
Expressing his delight at the discipline exhibited by the schools visited and the high attendance in the classrooms, Hon. Antwi took the opportunity to inspire the young students. He emphasized the importance of taking education seriously, highlighting it as the key to future success and development within the country.
The Municipal Education Director, Madam Dorothy Opare Baidoo, commended the impressive enrollment numbers and seized the occasion to appeal to parents. She urged them to ensure that their children attend school regularly and emphasized the need for proper clothing for the pupils.
The event also saw the presence of the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Charles Attah-Mensah, and the Presiding Member, Hon. Richard Nyarko. Staff members from the Education Directorate also participated, contributing to the success of the programme aimed at fostering a brighter future for the pupils of Oforikrom.
