The Oforikrom Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Gloria Temmah Gambrah has indicated that, the local government system ensures the Assembly relates with the people at the grassroots in decision making to facilitate a sustainable development agenda and the Assembly is poised to make that happen.
Hon. Gambrah gave this assurance when she together with the MP for Oforikrom, Hon. Dr. Emmanuel Marfo cut sod for the construction of a Six (6) Unit Classroom Block at Kokoben M/A school. The project funded by the GETFUND of the Assembly is to among other things facilitate teaching and learning.
She indicated that, the programme was also to interact with the community on their specific developmental needs, hence urged members present to be open and come out with their issues to help the Assembly appreciate their concerns as it pertains to them. She assured them that the kokoben will not be left out of the developmental projects.
The Member of Parliament for Oforikrom, Hon. Dr. Emmanuel Marfo on his behalf, said the project was in fulfilment of the promise made by the NPP government during the campaign period. He appealed to the people to continue supporting the Nana Addo led government to deliver on its mandate.
Nana Boakye Yiadom II, the chief of Kokoben who chaired the programme together with the traditional members expressed their appreciation to the Hon. MCE and the Hon. MP for allocating a project in their community. He lauded His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo government for creating new district assemblies which he believed is a mechanism to ensure participation of the masses in governance and relatively evenly distribute the national cake.
He later pledged the support of the Kokoben Traditional Authorities to the Assembly in its developmental agenda.
In an open forum, members of the community also appealed to the Hon. MCE to develop a major road in Kokoben. Concerns about need for street lights, security and ICT center were also raised. Whereas some members also suggested the Assembly provides waste bins to the community.
The ceremony brought together members of the kokoben traditional council, the assembly member, residents of Kokoben and representatives of artisans and market associations within the community.
