Eleven (11) recruits have successfully been trained as security guards to serve the Oforikrom municipal on the 17th May 2019. The recruits graduated after they had gone through a ten-day intensive training at the Police Headquarters at Pataasi, in Kumasi.
The Oforikrom Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Gloria Temmah Gambrah in her key note address cautioned the security guards to desist from taking bribes or extorting money from motorists and traders in the municipality and be discipline. ‘I don’t want to see or hear that you have taken money from the people because you are wearing uniform. If you are caught in such acts, consider yourself sacked” she warned.
She also stressed on punctuality and be professionals in the discharge of their duties.
The Deputy Sup. of police for Oforikrom, DSP Aboagye also called on the security guards to work hard and desist from activities which are against the ethics of their profession.
The security guards will be responsible for the curbing of unlawful hawking along the roadside and bus stops within the municipality and also help maintain law and order to help promote peaceful co-existence.
They also will assist the police to combat criminal cases in the municipality and also act as traffic wardens to ensure the free flow of traffic in the municipality.
