The Oforikrom Municipal Chief Executive, Honorable Gloria Temmah Gambrah has stressed that sanitation issues in the municipality is huge and can only be tackled with close collaboration among all stakeholders.
Speaking at a clean-up exercise, she said poor and inadequate facilities, socio-cultural issues, weak institutional support mechanisms as well as weak enforcement of bye-laws has all contributed to the huge sanitation problem within the municipality.
She appealed to the general public to take clean-up exercises seriously as government is doing its best to tackle the menace. She also highlighted on critical issues and sustainable measures that will aid on tackling sanitation problem.
Hon. Gambrah continued to hit on the importance of sanitation whereby no interest is shown by some community members during cleanup exercises and are therefore reluctant to participate in. She said that, this attitude is hampering her vision of making Oforikrom clean and green.
She thus called on the people living in the municipality to show some commitment to sanitation since cleaning our communities ultimately affects us positively.
