It was a colorful event as students from various educational institutions within the Oforikrom Municipality paraded at the Paa Joe Sports Stadium(named after Arthur Hercules Ratnadurai Joseph) in KNUST to mark Ghana's 62nd Independence day celebration. In attendance were various dignitaries including the Member of Parliament of Oforikrom Municipal Assembly, in the person of Hon. Emmanuel Marfo.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Gloria Temmah Gambrah, The Traditional Authorities of various towns and other protocols as well as heads of various educational institutions within the Oforikrom Municipality. Hon. Gloria Temmah Gambrah in her speech outlined the need for collaboration towards the development of the Municipality and the nation as a whole. Awards were also presented to deserving students for various competitions undertaken prior to the celebration day as well as the parading schools.
