The Oforikrom Municipal Assembly has officially received a range of heavy equipment as part of the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP), aimed at enhancing the local road network.
The equipment, which includes bulldozers, wheel loaders, concrete mixers, and motor graders, are expected to be pivotal in addressing the municipality’s infrastructure needs.
During the inauguration ceremony, Hon. Abraham Kwame Antwi, the Oforikrom Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), expressed gratitude to the government for its commitment to improving infrastructure at the local level.
“This is a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to improving local infrastructure by giving Local authorities the tools they need to effect meaningful change in their communities.” He remarked.
Hon. Antwi further assured that the Assembly would ensure the proper and efficient use of the equipment.
“Adequate plans have been made for regular maintenance and fueling to guarantee the smooth operation of the initiative.” He noted.
The Asakyihene of Manhyia, Prof. Nana Mensah Bonsu, who chaired the event, praised the Assembly and the government for prioritizing the area's road infrastructure. He noted that the equipment would significantly help alleviate the road network challenges in Oforikrom. However, he urged the Assembly to strictly adhere to its road rehabilitation plan to maintain public confidence in their efforts.
The DRIP initiative is expected to bring much-needed relief to the people of Oforikrom, ensuring safer and more efficient transportation within the municipality
