The Oforikrom Municipal Assembly has commenced a dredging exercise of major waterways to prevent the reoccurrence of flooding in the municipality.

The operation, which began on May 31, 2025, is being led by the Ashanti Regional NADMO Director and his team, in collaboration with the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Anwel Sadat Ahmed.

Hon. Sadat Ahmed emphasized that the initiative aligns with the Assembly’s commitment to improving living conditions and preventing perennial flooding.

“This dredging exercise is a crucial step in safeguarding lives and property during the rainy season,” Hon. Sadat Ahmed stated. “It is part of our broader agenda to enhance the well-being of our residents and ensure that flooding becomes a thing of the past in Oforikrom.”

He confirmed that operations will continue along the major gutter stretch from Dagomba Line to Anloga Junction.

Hon. Sadat called for the cooperation of residents and stakeholders to support the exercise and help ensure its success.
