The Oforikrom Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. Gloria Temmah Gambrah on June 19, 2019 commissioned a 3unit classroom block at the Oforikrom M/A basic school.
This comes after the collapse of the K.G block in October last year, the assembly promptly came in to renovate the block to afford the pupils enjoy a serene atmosphere to learn.
Speaking at the inauguration, Hon. Gambrah assured the community members that all ongoing projects within the municipality which is in accordance with that of the central government would be completed in due course.
She called on parents to take advantage of government policy to make basic and SHS education free to all. She added that, government is working effortlessly to provide class room block for the KNUST SHS to address the excesses created as a result of the high students’ intake due to the free SHS policy.
Interacting with the community members in a durbar, Hon. Gambrah stressed on the need for proper sanitation in the community. She hinted that the assembly has prepared its bye-laws pending its gazetting into law and this would equip the assembly with the necessary backing to enforce the law to ensure proper disposal of waste.
The MCE noted that, the Livelihood empowerment to alleviate poverty programme (LEAP) which the government brought on board has been of immerse benefit to less privileged and the destitute in municipality. She mentioned that, of the 151 beneficiaries of the programme in the entire municipality, 88 of them are from the Oforikrom east and west constituencies.
The chief of Amakom, Nana Adu Mensah Asare who chaired the programme expressed his profound gratitude to MCE and the Assembly for fulfilling their promise and putting back the smiles on the pupils’ faces. He also urged Assembly to do more developmental projects in the community and improve in security within the Municipality.
