In a bid to restore order and sanity to the community, the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly has embarked on a massive demolition exercise at Anloga Dagomba Line, a densely populated area in Kumasi.
The exercise, which began on Friday April 26, 2024, saw a team of demolition experts and security personnel moved in to clear illegal structures and makeshift buildings that have sprouted up at Anloga-Dagomba line.
According to the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Abraham Antwi, the demolition exercise is aimed at addressing the long-standing issue of illegal structures and criminal activities in the area. “We are committed to ensuring that our community is safe, clean, and conducive for business and residential purposes. The illegal structures and criminal activities in the area have been a major concern for us, and we are taking decisive action to address it.” He noted.
The demolition exercise has been welcomed by many residents, who have expressed relief that the assembly is finally taking action to address the long-standing issues.
“We are grateful to the assembly for taking this bold step,” said Madam Akua Agyeman, a resident of the community. “We hope this will bring an end to the criminal activities and make our community a safer place to live.”
The exercise is expected to continue for several days, with the assembly working to clear the area of all illegal structures and debris. The move is seen as a significant step towards restoring the community’s lost glory and paving the way for progress and development. The assembly has also announced plans to develop the area into a modern business hub, with state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure.
As the demolition exercise continues, residents and traders are eagerly awaiting the transformation of their community. “We are excited about the prospects of a new and improved Anloga Dagomba Line.
