CLEAN-UP EXERCISE AT AYEDUASE, KUMASI

 

On Friday the 4th of August 2023, a cleanup exercise was organized by the Chief of Ayeduase community in collaboration with the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly and ZoomLion Ghana LTD at Ayeduase community.

 The exercise took place at the Ayeduase Gate/ Entrance to the Chief’s Palace and other areas that needed cleaning. The environmental Health officer Ms Constance Akuka together with the Assembly Member of the electoral area, Hon. Justice Attobrah gathered all the materials needed for the clean-up whilst the Assembly’s vehicle with a public address system informed citizens. The exercise was aimed at cleaning the environment and inculcating the habit of cleanliness in electorates.

The event began as early as 6:00 am with the sweeping of streets, the cleaning of gutters, weeding, gathering and disposing of refuse etc. The volunteers were offered gloves, boots and nose masks for protection and also brooms, rakes, shovels, wheel barrows, cutlasses etc. to ensure that the exercise was done efficiently without any health hitches.

Also present at the exercise were Hon. Assembly Members, N.D.C party executives, NADMO, some staffs of the Assembly and some residents. Speaking at the close of the clean- up exercise, the Chief of Ayeduase said, the clean-up exercise is to tidy their environments and must be treated as such. The Chief thanked all participants for coming in their numbers to support such a good course, he mentioned that cleanliness is next to godliness and for that matter it was necessary to keep the environs clean.

 He said a clean environment breeds healthy people and healthy people become productive in the socio-economic life and urged all present not to make the exercise a nine-day wonder. He said it will go a long way to bring sanity into our environment and advised the people not to dump refuse indiscriminately and later turn to clean them.
